THANK YOU!

Dear ILI Community,

It is with heartfelt gratitude and a touch of sadness that we announce the resignation of two extraordinary faculty members, Erica Corbin and Will Gilyard. Their contributions to ILI over the years have been profound and transformative, leaving an indelible mark on our organization and its mission.

Erica Corbin

Erica joined ILI in 2015, bringing with her an exceptional ability to integrate emotional intelligence with education. Her influence has been instrumental in shaping ILI’s growth, guiding us from our formative years to becoming the premier network for educators of color in independent schools. As an advisor, her counsel has been consistently insightful, forthright, and uplifting, often helping others find clarity and even humor in challenging situations. Erica’s workshop on race and power dynamics has redefined the way participants navigate majority-white educational spaces, providing new perspectives even to seasoned professionals. Her well-known sentiment, “You are ready, and you are not ready,” speaks to the transformative nature of both personal and professional growth. Erica, we thank you deeply for challenging and inspiring us to evolve.

Will Gilyard

Will’s journey with ILI began serendipitously, as a last-minute addition, but his impact has been nothing short of extraordinary. Known for his warmth, unmistakable charisma, and keen analytical mind, Will has been a pillar of wisdom and support for many. His mentorship workshops have empowered countless educators to identify thought partners and build meaningful professional communities. As an advisor, Will’s ability to offer perspective rather than prescriptive advice has made him a trusted confidant. His energy, enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication have embodied the very best of ILI’s ethos.

While we will soon welcome new members to the ILI faculty, we know that Erica and Will are truly irreplaceable. Their dedication, brilliance, and humanity have helped shape our culture and values in ways that will endure. Though their paths now lead elsewhere, we look forward to seeing them at future ILI gatherings, where they will forever remain cherished members of our family.

With deepest appreciation,

ILI Faculty
